The Cohasset Police Superior Officers Association Affiliates with the UFPO

COHASSET, MA — The United Federation of Police Officers is pleased to announce its official affiliation with a Cohasset Police Superior Officers Association, marking a significant advancement in its commitment to labor advocacy and collective representation. This strategic partnership will provide union members with expanded access to experienced union representatives, union training opportunities, and legal resources.

Through this affiliation, the Cohasset Police Superior Officers Association aims to further strengthen its ability to serve members, enhance working conditions, and participate effectively in labor negotiations. Union leadership believes this step will amplify the collective voice of Cohasset Police Superior Officers Association and foster continued excellence within the department.

“The Cohasset Police Superior Officers Association unanimously voted to leave the New England Police Benevolent Association (NEPBA) and join the United Federation of Police Officers,” said LT. Greg Lennon, President of the Cohasset Police Superior Officers Association. “We believe it is in our best interest to continue working with those most vested in the interests of the Cohasset Police Superior Officers Association, and the broader law enforcement community.”

UFPO leadership welcomed the decision and expressed their commitment to Cohasset Police Superior Officers Association. “We’re honored to have the unanimous support of the Cohasset Police Superior Officers Association,” said UFPO Northeast Director of Organizing Chris R. Hoar. “Their members serve their community with professionalism and dedication, and we look forward to ensuring their voices are heard and their priorities advanced at every level.”

International Representative Sean R. McArdle called the Cohasset Police Superior Officers Association, “A very aggressive and determined group of superior officers who should be excited about joining an aggressive national law enforcement labor organization.” McArdle continued, “The Cohasset Police Superior Officers Association decision adds to the continued momentum of law enforcement professionals seeking out UFPO for its reputation of responsive service, representatives, and advocacy.”

UFPO Testifies for Expanded Law Enforcement Rights in Vermont

Last week the United Federation of Police Officers Vermont Lobbyist testified before the House Committee on General and Housing, advocating for the expansion of survivor death benefits to Vermont law enforcement professionals. There is currently no State of Vermont death benefit for the survivors of law enforcement who give the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, but there is for other first responders in the State.

In addition, United Federation of Police Officers Vermont Lobbyist spoke in the Senate Committee on Government Operations on the importance of equity for law enforcement retirement benefits under the Vermont State Retirement Systems, advocating strongly for fair and just retirement benefits for those who dedicate their lives to serving our communities. Unfortunately, there is still disparity here for the hard-working men and woman in law enforcement.

These are all ongoing critical efforts aimed to ensure those who serve our communities and their families are properly supported and never forgotten.

As the United Federation of Police Officers is the ONLY law enforcement union in Vermont lobbying on behalf of all law enforcement, we remain committed to continue working with the Vermont Police Association to standing up for our law enforcement community, their families, and the future of policing in the Green Mountain State.
