UFPO Files Representation Petition on Behalf of Whitehall Police Superior Officers’ Association, OH
Columbus, Ohio — September 2026 — The United Federation of Police Officers (UFPO) has formally filed a petition for a representation election with the Ohio State Employment Relations Board (SERB) on behalf of the Whitehall Police Superior Officers’ Association. The filing follows an expression of support from an overwhelming majority of the association’s members for changing their representation from the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), Capital City Lodge 9, to UFPO.
The petition initiates the formal process through which eligible members may determine their collective-bargaining representative. SERB will review the filing and administer the election process in accordance with applicable Ohio public-sector labor procedures. Until that process is completed and the results are certified, the association’s current representation remains in place.
Members supporting the petition cited several reasons for seeking representation by UFPO, including its record of strong advocacy, accessibility, and responsive service to law enforcement professionals. The local is seeking a representative that members believe will provide more direct communication, timely assistance when workplace issues arise, and focused attention to the priorities of superior officers. Supporters also view UFPO’s law-enforcement-centered approach and emphasis on member access as important to ensuring that their concerns are heard and addressed effectively. If a majority of eligible voters select UFPO and SERB certifies the results, UFPO will become the recognized representative of the Whitehall Police Superior Officers’ Association. UFPO looks forward to participating in a fair and orderly election process and to providing members with information as the matter proceeds.
