The Vermont Attorney General’s Office has concluded its review of the Springfield Officer’s use of force and determined their actions were justified. The United Federation of Police Officers’ response to this critical incident was a major deciding factor for the Springfield Police Association’s decision to join the UFPO.

The United Federation of Police Officers, is grateful the Officer is safe and has been cleared to return to work serving the Springfield community. Incidents like this underscore the reality law enforcement officers are often required to make split second decisions in rapidly evolving and dangerous situations.

We wish the Officer well as they return to service and we will continue to support them. Thank all those who work every day to keep our communities safe.

Warren County, NY – January 1, 2026 – The Warren County Police Supervisors Benevolent Association has formally chosen to affiliate with the United Federation of Police Officers (UFPO), building upon the growing presence in the area which began several years ago when the Warren County Police Benevolent Association selected UFPO as its labor representative.

The Warren County Police Supervisors cited UFPO’s consistent presence, proven advocacy, and long-standing commitment to Warren County’s law enforcement as key factors in their decision to join the organization. By following the lead of the rank and file’s association, the Warren County Police Supervisors reinforced its confidence in UFPO’s ability to represent the unique responsibilities and challenges faced by police supervisory personnel.

“Our decision reflects what we’ve seen firsthand over the past several years” said Lt. Lail, President of the Warren County Police Supervisors Benevolent Association.

The UFPO leadership welcomed the Warren County Police Supervisors and emphasized the importance of unified representation. “We are proud to welcome the Warren County Police Supervisors Benevolent Association to UFPO,” said UFPO Representative Christopher Hoar. “Their decision speaks volumes about the trust built through our work with the Warren County PBA, and we look forward to continuing to advocate for all members of the department.”

The addition of the Warren County Police Supervisors Benevolent Association further underscores UFPO’s growing presence and reputation as a responsive, service oriented union representing law enforcement professionals throughout the region.

Montpelier, Vermont – December 30, 2025 – United Federation of Police Officers Representative (UFPO) Christopher Hoar prevailed in a hearing before the Vermont Labor Board involving former employer and New England Police Benevolent Association (NEPBA) Executive Director. The hearing took place on December 11, and the Board issued a decision in the UFPO’s favor.

The matter arose from a dispute concerning a petition for election of bargaining representative, under Vermont Municipal Labor relations Act. After reviewing the evidence and hearing testimony, the Vermont Labor Relations Board ruled in favor of the United Federation of Police Officers, affirming their position in the case.

“I’m grateful the Vermont Labor Relations Board carefully considered the facts and reached a fair decision,” said Christopher Hoar. “The Board’s decision reinforces the importance of an expedited election process and legislative intent of Vermont’s labor laws.”

The decision brings closure to the matter and allowing the completion of the election process.
